Why mental health is important…

Jul 25, 2019

Why is mental health important? Did you know that nearly 20% of Americans suffer from mental disorders?

We, at LIV Health, want to help decrease that number by providing services in conjunction with you, our referral sources! We strive to provide well-rounded care with your patients in mind.

WHO REFERS TO LIV HEALTH?

The short answer…anyone. You don’t have to be a doctor or a physician or even someone with a medical background to refer to LIV Health. You can be a friend, neighbor, sister, brother, parent, and you can even refer yourself. We receive referrals from all the above, as well as other mental health centers, family practice clinics, dentists, city agencies, shelters…anywhere.

Have someone in mind, who could use our services?

WHAT MAKES LIV HEALTH DIFFERENT?

One of the main things that makes us different, other than our awesome team, is the fact that we come to you, in the comfort of your own home. Transportation doesn’t have to be a barrier. (we do also have a therapy room in our Cheyenne and Wellington locations.)

We take all types of insurances including Medicare, Medicaid, commercial insurance and offer a sliding fee scale for services not covered by your insurance.

DOES LIV HEALTH CONTRACT THEIR SOCIAL WORK SERVICES?

Yes. We can provide social work services to your patients. Contracting with LIV Health means no vetting new employees. No background checks. No liability insurance. We do it for you. We have amazing social workers who will work with you and your patients to provide the best care possible.

Yes and No. Our Case Managers are amazing and can help with a multitude of things, such as:

Medicaid, Medicare, Disability, Social Security, VA Benefits, Connecting Home Care & Medical Services, Help with applications, just to name a few…

However, if you’re needing help with daily tasks such as budgeting, paying bills, light housekeeping, organizing, meal prep, social outings, or getting to the grocery store, check out LIV More. Our sister team LIV More provides in-home money management and concierge services as well as transportation services. They are dedicated to profoundly improving your quality of life.

Here are a few important reasons to stop ignoring mental health.

(and partner with LIV Health…shameless plug)

BETTER PHYSICAL HEALTH

There is a strong connection between the mind and the body. Just as physical health problems can lead to mental distress, mental health disorders can impair physical health.

IMPROVED PRODUCTIVITY AND FINANCIAL STABILITY

The World Health Organization reports that an estimated 200 million workdays are lost each year due to depression alone, and five out of the 10 leading causes of disability worldwide are mental health problems. People who struggle with anxiety and depression are more likely to take sick leave repeatedly and for long periods of time (over 90 days).

LESS STRAIN ON FAMILY

Mental illness affects families as well as individuals. Loved ones can struggle with financial strain, job loss, and their own psychological problems as a result of trying to help their mentally ill family members.

LONGER HAPPIER LIFE

People with even mild mental health problems may have a lower life expectancy. People with mental health problems, especially mild symptoms of anxiety or depression, often fly under the radar of physicians and mental health professionals.

So, why make mental health a priority? Because caring for your mind as well as your body means you’ll not only live longer but better. Just as we have effective treatments for physical illnesses, there are therapies, medications and lifestyle interventions that can ease mental suffering.

SPEAKING OF THERAPY, WHAT TYPES OF TREATMENT TO LIV HEALTH THERAPISTS PROVIDE?

We’ll work one-on-one to establish a plan for continued counseling that best fits your specific needs and schedule. We take a holistic/humanistic approach to each of our counseling and therapy styles, including:

Evidence-Based Treatment Methods, Behavioral Cognitive Therapy, Reminiscence Therapy, Grief Counseling, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy

We’re here for you and the people you serve. We want to work together, with you to raise awareness about mental health, and provide awesome, well-rounded health care.

We will meet you where you are, and we’re here to help
