When To Get Help

Nov 15, 2022

What is normal?

Changes in your thoughts, feeling, and moods are normal. Sadness, crying, and lack of motivation are all part of the many complex human emotions. Sometimes, though, when feelings of hopelessness, sadness, extreme mood swings, an inability to cope or other difficult feelings don’t go away, it’s time to get help.

Listen to your body as well as those closest to you for signs that you need help. Don’t be afraid to call around and ask questions about services offered and what services might be best for you. Ask for someone who provides evidenced based treatment methods. You can also ask for the type of treatment they provide. Some mental health clinicians offer talk therapy and other options involve medications, or group treatment. Consider what is the best option for you and what you would feel comfortable with. The important thing to remember is that people can and do recover from mental health issues.
