Learn with LIV: Breast Cancer
Did you know breast cancer is the second-leading cause of cancer death among women?
In 2016, 411 Wyoming women were diagnosed with breast cancer, and it is estimated by the American Cancer Society that there will be 440 new cases in Wyoming this year. Breast cancer is the most frequently diagnosed cancer in women other than cancers of the skin. We want to be part of the solution, that’s where Learn with LIV: Breast Cancer comes in. Let’s talk about it…
What can we do?
The U.S. Preventative Services Task Force recommends the following breast cancer screening guidelines:
- Women between the ages of 40 and 49 with an increased risk for breast cancer due to family history, genetic disorder or other factors should speak with their doctor about screenings.
- Ladies ages 50 to 74, should get a mammogram every two years.
- Women older than 75 should speak with their doctor about continued breast cancer screenings. In addition, take steps to help lower the risk of breast cancer by:
- Maintaining a healthy weight.
- Staying active.
- Limiting alcohol to no more than one drink a day.

UNITED IN THE FIGHT…
We want to be part of the solution, so LIV Health, in partnership with the Wyoming Breast Cancer Initiative and Stitches Acute Care Clinic is offering breast cancer support throughout Wyoming with a virtual approach.
What does a virtual approach mean?
A virtual approach means we are offering counseling visits using our telehealth platform. We can help those newly diagnosed with breast cancer, as well as those who are post-treatment and their families anywhere in Wyoming!
Speaking of the Wyoming Breast Cancer Initiative, the Pink Ribbon Run is this Saturday and there’s still time to sign up. Don’t forget to stop by and see us at the LIV Health booth. We will have more information about the grant, posters and yummy treats.
