ALL ABOUT LIV HEALTH THERAPISTS & PSYCHOLOGISTS

Let’s talk all about LIV Health’s Therapists and Psychologists…

FIRST, TREATMENT OPTIONS…

At LIV Health we take a holistic/humanistic approach to each of our counseling and therapy styles, including, evidence-based treatment methods, cognitive behavioral therapy, reminiscence therapy, grief counseling, and more. Here is a little info about some of the treatments used by our therapists and psychologists.

WHAT IS EVIDENCE-BASED TREATMENT?

Evidence-based treatment aims to track the efficacy of treatment plans so that the client only undergoes treatment which has been proven to work. The goals of this treatment are increased quality of treatment, as well as increased accountability. Evidence-based treatment can be effective for those with personality disorders, depression, anxiety, children with autism, children with developmental coordination disorder, and so many more!

WHAT IS COGNITIVE BEHAVIORAL THERAPY?

Cognitive Behavioral Therapy is a common type of talk therapy, and it can help you become aware of inaccurate or negative thinking so you can view challenging situations more clearly and respond to them in a more effective way. It can be combined with other types of therapies and can be effective for those suffering from depression, post-traumatic stress disorder or an eating disorder, and more. In fact, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy can be effective for anyone to help learn how to better manage stressful life situations.

WHAT IS REMINISCENCE THERAPY?

Reminiscence Therapy, also known as life review therapy is often used to treat severe memory loss or dementia. It works by encouraging people to revisit memories from their past and is a form of talk therapy.

Benefits of Reminiscence Therapy may include:

  • Improved mood and behavior
  • Better cognition
  • Less strain on the caregiver
  • Higher confidence
  • Reduced depression
  • Better connection to loved ones
  • Higher self-worth.

We can help you or your loved one reconnect, as some older adults may start to feel left behind or disconnected as they age. We can help them feel heard and valued.

WHAT IS GRIEF COUNSELING?

While this may sound self-explanatory, there are many different types of grief, and most people will experience loss at some point in their lives. Grief is a reaction to any form of loss, whereas bereavement is a type of grief experienced with the death of a loved one. Grief is not limited to feeling sad, you can also experience guilt, yearning, anger, and regret.
